MEET RAF GONZALEZ
Raf Gonzalez is a Latino multi-disciplinary artist.
Born and raised in Perth, he comes from a family of migrants who moved from El Salvador to Western Australia during the Salvadoran Civil War.
Raf is a proud Aspie whose work highlights often-marginalized diverse identities, raising them from supporting character to protagonist, and giving them the agency they often aren’t afforded.
Raf has been supported by DADAA and the Centre for Stories with his writing.
Waiting to Breathe - Raf Gonzalez
Breathe in...
…Breathe out
Breathe in… all the chaos pumping through our news and YouTube algorithms.
… Breathe out to ignore and watch funny cats and music videos.
Breathe in… all the wasted time hearing about the stupid orange clown and his spineless minions turning the world upside down!
…Breathe out and keep counting down the days when he is vanquished into oblivion!
Breathe in… every pulsating urge to scream at my bank for going digital and out of touch!!
…Breathe out for when then realise face to face makes dull paperwork streamlined smoothly!
Breathe in… for the damn rich pigs who keep making everything so bloody expensive to fill their stinking fat vaults!!!
…Breathe out for the day inflation drops, and we can sigh a relief!!!
Breathe in… my anxiety, my exhaustion, and my rage!!!!
…Breathe out my hopes, my calm, and my tranquillity.
